Hi! I'm Blake Ducharme. I'm in my Junior year at NDSU studying Exercise Science, with plans of continuing my education to earn my Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). I grew up in the trees and waters of Grand Rapids, MN. I had a lot of exposure to EMS during my teen years and in combination with competing in many different sports, and wanting to help people, I felt drawn to plant my livelihood in the medical field.
Both of my parents' families have deep Catholic roots, but the faith growing up was very weak and mostly nonexistent in my family's lifestyles. I did still receive the sacrament of Confirmation during high school, which is why I choose to term my story of changing my life for Christ as one of a re-conversion. I graduated high school in 2020, which worked out to be a good thing for my faith. With the world shut down and many of my idols stripped away, I had to make a deeper confrontation with myself about the man I wanted to become. Thanks to the events of that Summer, I went to the first Newman Center mass in Fall 2020, made some good friends who cared deeply about their faith, and began to do the same myself.
Now after two years at NDSU, thanks to how Jesus has came to me through my faith family at the Newman Center in attending daily masses, bible studies, mission trips, retreats, countless adoration hours, and just hanging out around other young adults who have a holy hunger, I've now become a man I didn't know I could be.
I'm really excited to begin my first semester as a peer minister in the very community that's changed my life for the better. Feel free to reach out to me by my cell or email if you have any questions about Newman or want to find where the fun is happening. God bless!
